Day 1: Tuesday 6/20 Fly from USA to Italy START in Florence.
Day 2: Wednesday 6/21 Florence Group Dinner in town Check in after dinner.
Day 3: Thursday 6/22 Siena Travel to Siena. Visit this beautiful medieval city with its center gathered within ancient walls which hold beautiful monuments and museums. Visit the Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Comunale and Torre del Mangia. Visit the Duomo which is a majestic example of Romanesque-Gothic Style. Dinner in Siena and overnight in Florence.
Day 4: Friday 6/23 Cinque Terra. Take the train to Cinque Terre, which is also known as "Five Lands" composed of five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Dinner in the Cinque Terre region and overnight in Florence.
Day 5: Saturday 6/24 Florence to Assisi with single overnight in Assisi. Mass followed by check in and group dinner. En route from Florence travel to Assisi. See the tombs of St. Francis and St. Clare; enjoy a peaceful walk on the streets of Assisi. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.
Day 6: Sunday 6/25 Leave Assisi and drive to Ascoli Paceno for day visit, then drive to Rome, overnight in Rome. Overnight in Rome.
Day 7: Monday 6/26 Rome Castel San Angelo Trevi and Pantheon, Castel San Angelo, Trevi Fountain, followed by a walk to the Pantheon, the oldest functional building in the world, (and then to the great artistic place of Piazza Navona optional).
Day 8: Tuesday 6/27 Castel Gandolfo with bus tour and tour of palace and Basilicas. Tour Castel Gondolfo, the Pope's Summer Residence including a tour of the basilicas to the gardens.
Day 9: Wednesday 6/28 Rome Papal Audience and St. Sebastian’s Coliseum. We will have an early start as our private bus leaves around 7:00 am to the Vatican to experience the 10:00 am Audience with the Pope. We will see the Pope very closely; sometimes we even shake his hand. Tour of the Colosseum and the Catacombs of St. Sebastian, Mass at San Sebastian. Dinner (group) at restaurant near the Colosseum, overnight in Rome.
Day 10: Thursday 6/29 Vatican Museum and St. Peters Rome. Start the day around 9:30 am, by visiting St. Peter's in the Vatican, the largest Basilica in the world. There will be time for private devotion and shopping before lunch. In the afternoon we will see the Vatican Museums, and the Sistine Chapel (the Pope's private Chapel). Long pants, capris, or skirts below the knee, shoulders covered. Dinner and over night in Rome.
Day 11: Friday 6/30 Fly back to USA.
Please note: We do our best to ensure that all sites listed in this itinerary will be seen. However, due to scheduling conflicts, or other circumstances beyond our control, sites may be visited on a different day than listed. If this happens it will also necessitate a change in the restaurant for dinner. However, we will never sacrifice the quality of the meal, all restaurants will meet Proximo Travel's very high standards. Since we have several different trip configurations touring at the same time, it is likely that groups on different tours will be combined when their itineraries overlap in certain areas.
