Day 1: Depart the USA
Day 2: Arrive in Frankfurt, Germany. Proceed to the beautiful and historic Cathedral (DomKirche) for Mass. For centuries, the Holy Roman Emperors were elected and crowned in this Cathedral. After lunch in a nearby (wonderful) restaurant, proceed by way of the lovely city and Cathedral of Limburg to the Benedictine Monastery and (5 star) hotel at Maria Laach. (One of the homes of the reform of the Sacred Liturgy in the 19th century).
Day 3: After breakfast, drive to Cologne and visit the world famous Cathedral – where the Three Wise Men and the 7 Maccabees and their mother, Martyrs, are buried in magnificent reliquaries. Nearby we will visit the Dominican church and the tomb of St. Albert the Great. We will proceed to the famous Marian Sanctuary of Our Lady of Kevelaer where we will have Mass. Dinner and overnight at Maria Laach.
Day 4: After a sumptuous German breakfast (each day), we will drive to the lovely ancient city of Aachen. We will visit the Cathedral where Emperor Charlemagne is buried. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful Byzantine and Western-style churches in Europe. We will proceed to the Belgian city of Liége where St. Juliana de Cordileone received the visions of Christ that led to the Feast of Corpus Christi. Nearby, visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Banneux. We will have Mass in one of the above. Our Lady appeared there ca. 1931. Dinner and overnight at Maria Laach.
Day 5: On the way to our next stop, we will visit the Ancient City of Trier ~ the westernmost Capital of the Roman Empire. It is also the oldest Diocese in Germany. We will have Mass there. We will proceed to another ancient and lovely city, Würzburg. On the Rhine, it is one of the places where a lot of the famous German white wines are harvested. We will also visit its lovely Cathedral; the Shrine of Our Lady at the Kappele on the hills overlooking the river where Mass will be held. We will also visit the Shrine of Sts. Killian, Kolonat and Totnan, Founders of Würzburg and Martyrs, as well as that of the modern Martyr of the Nazis, Bd. George Häfner. Dinner and overnight in Bamberg.
Day 6: We will visit the Medieval city and Cathedral of Bamberg, founded by Emperor St. Henry, who is buried there with his Queen, Empress St. Kunegunda. Also Pope St. Clement II. Then we drive to the little town of Heroldsbach, where Our Lady, called of the Roses, appeared to five German girls beginning in 1951. We will have Mass at the Shrine. Many other Saints as well as Our Lord also appeared there. Dinner and overnight in Bamberg.
Day 7: We will drive to the university town of Eichstätt and visit the Monastery and tomb of St. Walburga (and her family all Saints!). We will have Mass at their Altar in the crypt. We will also have a great German lunch near there and visit the Cathedral and the magnificent Jesuit Church nearby. We will then drive to the upper Alps to the Monastery of Ettal, a magnificent example of German Renaissance art and architecture. Dinner and overnight near Oberammergau.
Day 8: After breakfast, we will drive to the Shrine of Our Lady of Altötting, Patroness of Bavaria. (Favorite Shrine of Pope Benedict XVI). We will have Mass at its historic Altar. Nearby we will visit the Basilica of St. Anne as well as the Capuchin Monastery where St. Konrad of Parzham (who lived in the 19th century and was Porter there) is buried and venerated. Dinner and overnight in Passau.
Day 9: We will drive to the city on the Danube, Passau, and visit the Cathedral there. It boasts the largest organ in the world in a church. We also pay homage to St. Gisela, sister of Emperor St. Henry and wife of St. Stephen of Hungary. We will have Mass there. Dinner and overnight Passau.
Day 10: On the way to the famous city of Munich (München) we will pay a visit to the city of Regensburg (Rattisbone in French). Mass at the Cathedral where St. Albert the Great was once Bishop. Dinner and overnight in Munich.
Day 11: Visit the wonderful city, capital of Bavaria, famous for its BeerHall. We will have Mass in one of its famous churches. Dinner and overnight in Munich.
Day 12: Departure for the USA.
